Patriot General Hosts 2024 Safety Standdown Event

On Friday, March 8, 2024, Patriot General Engineering hosted our annual companywide Safety Standdown event at Sycuan Resort. This gathering served as a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of safety within our operations. CEO Steve Garcia and Safety Manager Todd Vance kicked-off the event with poignant messages emphasizing the paramount importance of safety in every facet of the organization’s endeavors.

The day included a diverse array of guest speakers who enlightened attendees on various job site safety topics including:
• Hand safety, PPE, and heat stress (Bryan Reed – Radians)
• SDGE Helicopter operation safe practices (Dana Gemmingham – SDGE Aviation Services)
• The 811 Process and safe excavation practices (Amber Dahl – DigAlert)
• Fall protection (Tom Savola – Buckingham)
• Cone zone and traffic safety (Miguel Uresti – Co’s Traffic Control)
• Fire mitigation and prevention (Mike Van Bibber – Patriot General)
• Safe equipment and tool operation (Tyler Sanfillippo – Milwaukee Tool)
• Sexual harassment and workplace conflict avoidance (Emmy Brashars – BBSI
• Mental Health (Shana Fisk – Hunter’s Heart)

The event left no stone unturned in addressing critical safety concerns. The breadth and depth of knowledge imparted during the Patriot General Engineering 2024 Safety Standdown event underscored our steadfast dedication to ensuring the well-being of our workforce and the communities we serve. By assembling a roster of industry experts to address multifaceted safety concerns, Patriot General demonstrated its proactive approach to mitigating risks and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The event not only equipped attendees with invaluable insights and practical strategies for enhancing safety protocols but also served as a platform for fostering collaboration and shared learning across diverse sectors of the construction industry. In addition, Patriot General implemented our new hard hat QR code emergency contact system for each employee and distributed new Hi-Vis work shirts to each employee.
