Patriot General is on the leading edge of fire prevention and firefighting training. Our crews are on the job well in advance of fire season identifying and mitigating potential risks before they become issues.

EQUIPMENT & RESOURCES

Patriot General maintains a large fleet of Small Fire Engine/Fire Trucks each equipped with: self-contained slip-on firefighting unit, water storage tanks, auxiliary engine-driven centrifugal that will pump 100 to 120 psi, fuel cell, hose reel, and control panel

Patriot General maintains a large fleet of Small Fire Engine/Fire Trucks each equipped with: self-contained slip-on firefighting unit, water storage tanks, auxiliary engine-driven centrifugal that will pump 100 to 120 psi, fuel cell, hose reel, and control panel.

  1. The lip-on is mounted to a utility platform or pickup bed
  2. A canvas/cover is incorporated to fit the unit entirely
  3. Water tank capacity of 150–300 gallons
  4. Available units are equipped with Scotty Foam System
  5. Our fire engine pumps are specifically designed to assist in fighting wildfires by transporting firefighters to the scene and providing them with access to water and other equipment that must conform to NFPA 1906. Standard for Wildland Fire Apparatus
  6. Our wildland engines are specially designed for the technique of pump-and-roll
  7. Compliment of Patriot General specification (DIESEL), single cab, four-door, crew cab or extended cab chassis. This chassis specification includes 4×4 capability.

All firefighter PPE meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and requirements for:

  1. NFPA 1971 Standard for Protective Ensembles for Structural/Proximity Fire Fighting
  2. NFPA 1851 Standard of Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural and Proximity Fire Fighting
  3. NFPA 1500 Standard for Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health

Patriot General Engineering, Inc. maintains all equipment in-house. This is to ensure precision and readiness for emergency situations. Our equipment is thoroughly inspected daily and highly maintained as per company regulations.

Wildlands PPE includes:

  1. Helmet: Bullard Full brim wildfire series hardhat with 19oz. Thermo plastic shell, adjustable head band from 6 ½ -8”, replaceable brow, 6in Nomex shroud, Nomex/Kevlar chinstrap with postman clasp, and goggles ESS with polycarbonate an anti-fog/scratch resistant lens
  2. Brush Jacket & Trousers: Constructed of Nomex flame resistant material and Kevlar stitching for light weight comfort, 3in 3M retro reflective tape for high visibility, and FD name plate with FF identifier
  3. Web Gear: True north Spyder Gear constructed with Condura, back harness technology to balance weight, new generation fire shelter case, and an assortment of water bottle pouches
  4. Fire Shelter (New Generation)Local, State, Federal mandated all FF must carry on wildland fires, constructed of foil and fiberglass cloth, tent shape when deployed covers entire body

Other PPE may include the following: radio, canteen, hearing protection, saw chaps, and compass. Together, these items protect the Firefighter from thermal and other job hazards while they work.

Patriot General Fire crews are required to complete the following training programs:

– NWCG Firefighter – Type 1 Certification

– ICS 100 Intro to Incident Command FCS

– L-180 Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service

– S-130 Basic Firefighting Training

– S-131 Firefighter Type 1

– S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior

– IS-700 NIMS

– RT-130 Annual Fireline Safety Refresher

– Monthly mandatory in-house training

MIKE VAN BIBBER

Van Bibber was chosen to lead the Patriot General Fire Division in 2020 after serving 38 years with the Julian-Cuyamaca Fire Protection District where he achieved the position of Fire Chief. Over his 40-plus year career firefighting, he has also worked in various operational and leadership positions with the Carlsbad Fire Department, California Department of Forestry (CALFIRE) and the Orange County Fire Authority.
